The recent fatal accident on Highway 11 claimed one of Fannin County's finest, Deputy Rahamy Mitchell, and has brought up concerns from some area residents.
Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation overseeing Fannin County say Highway 11 was designed several years ago, and it may be time for changes.
Area residents in Fannin County agree.
"I think it's tragic that someone died before they get something taken care of that's needed taken care of for quite a while," said Shirley Keen, who lives on Highway 11.
"I would love to see something done about it."
TX DOT engineers are reevaluating speed limits and assessing other road conditions in hope of saving lives on this highway and others.
