Perry Sworn in for Second Full Term Tuesday

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Governor Rick Perry and fellow Republican
Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst took their oaths of office today
in Austin.

In his inaugural address, Perry turned to the immigration issue
and said -- "We are both a nation of laws and immigrants; the
former protect us, the latter enrich us."

It was a wide-ranging speech for a governor's inaugural address.
Perry's name has surfaced as a possible vice presidential nominee
in 2008. He said last week he's not interested in going to
Washington, but he didn't say outright he wouldn't accept such an
offer.

If Perry completes his new term, that would make him the
longest-serving governor in state history.

Icy weather forced officials to move the inauguration from
outside the state Capitol indoors to the Texas House of
Representatives chamber. The last regularly scheduled inaugural
ceremony to be forced indoors was in 1957 for Governor Price
Daniel.
