11-25-03 - State leaders are looking at dumping their money-losing resort on Lake Texoma near Kingston. Officials are working on a plan for the state to purchase land owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The state would then lease or sell the property, including the
state owned lodge, for private development.
Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin says a private developer and the
Chickasaw tribe have approached the state about developing the
land.
About 1500 acres of land is involved, including the state
lodge, state park, an old golf course and the new Chickasaw Point
Golf Course.
The state Tourism Department owns 300 acres, including the
lodge. It leases part of two golf courses and the state park from
the corps.
