1-19-07 The man accused of killing his 3-year-old nephew back in November has been indicted. Eighteen-year-old Shawn Michael June was charged with injury to a child Thursday. Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown says that the reason for the charge was because evidence in the case does not support that the crime was committed intentionally, and injury to a child is easier for the district attorney's office to approve. Three-year-old Ashton Scott Matthews was shot after a gun June was holding went off killing the boy. Brown says that cases like these are hard on everyone involved. The DA’s office says that it will try and get a guilty plea. If convicted, June could face up to twenty years in prison.
