Drug Fad Popular With Local Teens

12-10-03 - It's called Coricidin, but is known among teens as Triple C.

It’s a common cold and cough antihistamine that's been around for years. Coricidin is available at almost any drug store and it's cheap making it available to most teens.

When taken in large doses it acts as a stimulant and increases heart rate and blood pressure. It can also cause side effects like hallucinations, seizures, coma, and even death. Poison control centers are trying to get the word out about Corisidin.

They’re even encouraging pharmacies to take it off the shelves and put it behind the counter.
