Fannin County sheriff's officials said a man died Saturday morning trying to steal copper wire. Reports indicate the incident happened between Randolph and Bailey, north of Highway 11. Fannin County Sheriff Kenneth Moore told First News two women and a man were trying to steal copper wire from electrical poles together. He said the man was electrocuted climbing a pole that had a transformer. Moore said the man and the two women were using all-terrain vehicles as transportation, and the two women got away. The sheriff's office is not releasing the name of the man who died. The case is still under investigation.
