Justice for Jorden? Suspect Arrested in Toddler's Death

12-15-03 - Authorities have arrested the former babysitter of a two-year-old Gainesville girl who was murdered nearly four years ago. It’s a day little Jorden Saager’s mother has fought to see.

Authorities arrested Kim Whitaker Stevens Saturday in Canyon Lake, Texas in Comal County. She's charged with capital murder for the beating death of Jorden.

She died in January of 2004 of massive internal injuries and a three and a half inch skull fracture. But despite circumstantial evidence pointing the finger to her babysitter, authorities said they didn't have enough to go to trial until now.

Jorden’s mother says prosecutors told her new witness testimony led to the capital murder indictment last Thursday. Stevens is awaiting transfer back to Cooke County.
