City leaders in Sherman sat minor revisions to the city charter could mean big improvements. Council members met in special session to look at proposed changes to the document.
City attorney Doreen McGookey says four key provisions are up for possible amendment, among them being provisions regarding conflicts of interest and the possibility of lengthening of mayoral and council member terms.
Organizers of the proposed overhaul say the changes are needed to simplify language in the charter.
The city attorney is currently working on how the provisions will be modified. There is not a set date yet as to when these amendments will be discussed again in the meeting.
