Stranger Danger - Sherman Child Almost Abducted

12-18-03 - A Piner Middle School student narrowly escaped a man who attempted to kidnap her while she was walking home from school, and it may not be the first time for the suspect to try it.
The latest attempt happened Wednesday afternoon. A young girl was walking down Pecan Street when a man pulled up and asked her if she wanted a ride home. When the girl said no, the man got out of his car and tried to grab her. The girl escaped by running to a nearby business. Authorities say he was driving a red car. He is described as a white male, age 18 to 22, with brown hair, and is around 5'5 to 5'10 tall.
But this isn't the first case of an attempted abduction. Tom Bean Police told KXII that they had a similar incident with an identical suspect description. Authorities say that last Monday two girls were playing in a rock pile near Highway 11 when a man drove up in a red car and asked for them to come over. Both girls ran to safety.
