Accused Murderer Surrenders in Gainesville

12-22-03 - Gainesville police have made an arrest in a five month long murder investigation. Saturday morning 22 year old Floyd Jason Gilpin surrendered to authorities. He’s charged in the shooting death of 20 year old Christopher Riley back on July 7th. Police believe three men drove to a residence in the 100 block of Harvey street to possibly confront someone. After harsh words were exchanged, the three men tried to drive away but shots were fired at the car, hitting all three men. Riley was killed. Gilpin is in the Cooke County jail on a one million dollar bond. Police say more arrests could be on the way. Tune into First News at Six for an exclusive interview with the victim’s mother.
