Funny Money in Ardmore

12-24-03 - The holiday brings in lots of cash but for some stores the cash didn't have the value they expected. Bank officials at the First National Bank of Ardmore discovered seven one hundred dollar bills without security strips and many of them with the same serial numbers.

Several area businesses were hit with the counterfeiting crimes including: Sonic, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Applebees, and McDonalds all in Ardmore. Authorities say the bills were used at restaurants because they are easier targets than stores or banks.

Police are working with the secret service to identify 2 more individuals who they feel are connected to this case. Already one arrest has been made in the case.
