SHERMAN, TX -- Results of a drug test show the driver in last August's fatal bus crash in Sherman had evidence of recent cocaine use in his system. Barrett Broussard was behind the wheel when the bus crashed on U.S. Highway 75 last August, killing 17 of the 55 people on board.
Documents prepared by the Sherman Police Department show cocaine was discovered in a urine sample from Barrett Broussard during the National Transportation Safety Board's investigation of the accident.
The 53-year-old Broussard hasn't been charged with a crime because the NTSB did not find evidence of cocaine in his blood. However, the Houston man could face a fine from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
