12-28-03 - Three Grayson County cheerleading squads competed for a belated Christmas gift at the National Cheerleading competition in Dallas on Sunday.

The Denison Lady Jacket cheerleading squad placed first in Sunday's preliminary competition in Dallas.
They'll compete in the finals Monday for the National title.

Their 2:15 routine consisted of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, and of course, cheering! Last year, the squad placed seventh.

Whitesboro High School cheerleaders did not advance to Monday's finals round. Callisburg Middle School cheerleaders also competed in Sunday's competition.

Denison and Whitesboro competed in different categories. The entire event will air on ESPN in February.
