WNJ CEO Planning for Future

1-7-04 - Wilson N Jones Medical Center’s new CEO has spent three days on the job, but says he’s not ruling out further cuts. Pat Flynn has spent much of his time talking with the hospital staff. Employees have been on edge for the last year. 2002 ended with the hospital $39 million in the hole. Then late last year, budget issues caused them to give up their trauma center designation. But Flynn says he is focusing on the future by building employee morale and improving the financial situation, without making any lofty promises. In fact, he won't promise that more cutbacks aren't on the way. Plans to lease out the North campus are still underway.
