A murder suspect on the run for three weeks now has been indicted for drug possession. A Grayson County Grand Jury charged Michael Dwayne Kimmel with possession of cocaine, a second degree felony.
He is also charged with shooting Gerry White after an argument outside of a Sherman apartment complex in 2005. Police say after an intense search and written confession Kimmel was arrested in Fort Worth.
Police say Kimmel claims he shot White in self defense. The Grayson County District Attorney says the gun used is undergoing additional forensic testing. Officials say Kimmel is awaiting trial for both cases.
If convicted, he could serve life in prison.
