The group Texoma Housing Partners makes up 17 cities in Grayson, Fannin, Collin and Hunt counties. Their goal, to improve housing in all member cities on a consistent basis.
This time, the betterment of life for senior citizens in Van Alstyne was on the list.
Each city within the group receives capital funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, but officials say in order to build these new homes, they had to combine the money gained from all the cities for part of 2005 and all of 2006.
All of the homes will be built on together on the same block in Van Alstyne. Once complete, they'll feature entrance ramps, handrails, wider doors and roll-in showers.
All together the bid for construction of the homes is over $500,000.
