Woman Assaulted in Park

1/11/04-- A Sherman woman and her daughter were assaulted while walking through Fairview Park Friday Night.

The victim says she and her daughter were walking around the back side of the park around 6:30 p.m., when they noticed a suspicious looking black male approaching them. He was dressed in all black.

The woman says the man grabbed her daughter, but the girl ran and called 911 on her cell phone. But before she could get away, the man hit the woman on the top of the head with the butt of his pistol. The woman has three staples in her forehead, two black eyes, and a broken nose.

Police are searching for the suspect, though his description is limited. They say to pay attention to your surroundings in order to avoid an attack.
