Roads will remain treacherous from snow and sleet until mid-day, when sunshine should melt most of it away. Snow is likely to remain on the ground until Friday.
Grayson County officials are looking for new ways to respond to emergency situations. They say they want to combine the Sherman, Denison and Grayson County Emergency Operations Centers.
They say proper communication and making sure everything goes right during an emergency is key, and that's why they want to improve how they respond. Sherman Fire Chief Jeff Jones said a centralized dispatch would allow better communication between people in the field and those back at the command center.
Grayson County Judge Drue Bynum and County Commissioners toured the Emergency Operation Center in Austin. They said they saw an advanced centralized dispatch center that coordinated all emergency units in the county. They said they think a model on a smaller scale would work in Grayson County.
No timetable has been set for discussion, but officials said they would like to begin talks soon.
