Historic District Expanded

02-20-07 Historic downtown Ardmore is doubling in size.
Tuesday night the Historic Preservation Board asked city commissioners to expand the historic district and they agreed.

The new plan encompasses a 10 square block area and includes the Depot, Caddo Street, and parts of Broadway.
Property owners will now have to comply with National Historic Preservation standards, and city leaders will have to approve any changes they make to the building facades.

Preservation Board members say the change opens the door to grants and tax credits.

Commissioners also gave Development Services the go ahead to rezone an area in front of the hospital from office to commercial, so CVS can build a new pharmacy there.
