2-5-04 - Wet weather this week isn't stopping Denison’s annual Snowball softball tournament this weekend. Two helicopters flew in to help, hovering over the field and acting as giant drying fans. The soggy T-Bar fields have been too wet to play. The idea actually came from an article during the last World Series, where a jet Ranger helicopter was used to dry the field. Matt Ashcraft of Freedom Aviation and a friend provided the two helicopters for Denison Parks and Recreation. He says after an hour and a half, primarily using one chopper, they were able to clear standing water off the infield. The Snowball tournament is annual event that draws 64 teams from across the region.
