Man Accused of Plotting to Kill Neighbors

2-5-04 - Lamar County deputies say they stopped a man as he was planning to kill his neighbors today. A tip led them to a remote location near Blossom, Texas and the home of 57 year old Marshall Denvil Mixon. The watched the man for several hours, but as he walked towards his neighbors home with a rifle around noon today, they moved in and captured him without incident. Authorities believe he’d been plotting to kill the two neighbors for some time. Mixon is now charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Sheriff B.J. McCoy says it appears Mixon had some sort of feud with the couple, possibly over a gravel road. The couple was out of town at the time, but deputies say they often had grandchildren at their home, so a disaster may have been averted.
