Top 10 Stolen Cars in America

2-27-04 - The nation’s top 10 stolen cars have been ranked by an insurance organization. Locally, there are some similarities, especially with older cars and pickups. Nationally, one car is stolen every 26 seconds. First News checked with four local police departments and learned that most Texoma towns average between four to six auto thefts per month. Police say crooks typically target older model sedans from the late 1980's to the mid 90's, presumably, because these vehicles are easier to break into. As for the cars most likely to be stolen in the Texoma area, police say GMC products lead the way, followed by mid-90's model Honda Accords. Police say the best way to keep from becoming a victim of auto theft is to use common sense. Keep your doors locked and don’t leave the keys in the . Here is the top ten national list, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
