Plane Down

2-6-04 - Five men made an unexpected visit to Carter County this afternoon after they were forced to make an emergency airplane landing in a pasture just north of Dickson. The men were actually flying from Canada to Mexico when the fuel pump on the 1972 Piper Cherokee 6 single engine aircraft cut out, causing the engine to stall. The pilot tried to glide the plane to the Ardmore Airpark, but in the end, was forced to make a risky landing on a flat stretch of pasture less than 100 yards long. The plane ground to a halt about fifty feet off of highway 177. Amazingly, no one was injured. They hope to have their plane repaired and be back in the air tomorrow.
