3-1-04 - Low flying airplanes and noisy take offs could be a thing of the past near the Sherman Municipal Airport.

The city council passed an ordinance Monday that would ban low-flying planes at high speeds. The so-called 'fly-bys' would be banned, except for air shows.

The ordinance would also change the takeoff pattern as well, requiring planes to use more of the runway, and not take off to early on the runway. The airport's board of directors calls this a pro-active step towards maintaining a good relationship with their neighbors. Punishment for pilots violating the ordinance has not been determined yet.
