ARDMORE, OK -- Firefighters and investigators in Ardmore are working to determine what caused a "suspicious" house fire Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors reported smoke coming out of a house in the 1100 block of 12th Northeast just after noon. Firefighters say no one was home when the fire broke out. The flames and smoke damaged about 50 percent of the house.

Firefighters are calling it suspicious, particularly the way it spread. The Ardmore Fire Department is working with the city's police to determine if any criminal activity contributed to the fire.
