A Soldier Returns Home

A homecoming celebration for a local soldier. And while the debate about whether or not to bring troops home is still a hot topic in our nations capital, one family from Bonham is thankful their hero has come home.

"It feels great to be home," said Sgt. Clint Atchley.

Over 100 people gathered at the Boyd Baptist Church North of Bonham, to welcome home a friends, son, and hero after three years apart.

Atchley, his wife and two children arrived in Texas on February 25 after spending three years in Germany. He served two tours of duty in Iraq; one for six months, another for a year. The time away from his family wasn't easy.

"I've got two kids and I have spent 2 years away from them and then I come back and its amazing how they've all grown up," said Atchley.

The Same goes for his wife, who raised the two kids while Atchley was in Iraq.

"My main concern his the safety of my husband and the other soldiers over there," said Atchley's wife Amanda.

Atchley joined the military in 2003 knowing that the possibility of going to war was very likely, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He says he is thankful for the gifts that those back at home sent to him while he was over in Iraq.

Atchley will be at home until March 26, when he will be stationed out of Ft. Hood, Texas.
