Recess Called in Ganis Trial

02-12-04 - A Carter County judge has called a recess in the Sarah Ganis trial after her defense attorney became ill and had to be taken to the hospital. His condition is not life threatening and the trial should be back in session tomorrow.

Sarah Ganis is accused of nine counts of child neglect. Three of those charges stem from the deadly house fire that killed her three toddler children. The children were all home alone when the fire broke out. Yesterday, Ganis took the stand in her defense.

Both the prosecution and the defense have rested in the case. Closing statements and jury instructions are expected tomorrow.
