Valentine's Day Rollercoaster for Local Businesses

2-13-04 - Today is the busiest of the season for florists, as lovers send their heartfelt affection to one another. But for one Ardmore business, it's a week-long rollercoaster of manning telephones. The 1-800-flowers call center in Ardmore expects to take as many as 1 million orders this week, from people across the world. Up to 500 agents work in shifts covering 24 hours a day this week, taking as many as 15 calls an hour.
The customers are a little different this year. A lot of their calls are coming from soldiers overseas, taking part in operation Enduring Freedom. Managers at the Ardmore center are doing their best to keep employees happy - even catering food to their desks.
