2-16-04 - A former Ardmore man convicted in Texas of setting a 1991 blaze that killed his three daughters faces lethal injection Tuesday in Huntsville. Cameron Willingham would be the seventh Texas death row inmate executed this year. A clemency request was rejected Friday by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Willingham was living in Corsicana, Texas in 1991 when his three children - 2 year old Amber, and year-old twins, Karmon Diane and Kameron Marie died in the arson fire. Willingham has insisted he wasn't responsible for the deaths. But a prosecutor says Willingham just wanted to get rid of his children. Evidence showed an accelerant was used to ignite parts of the house. Willingham's wife, who was out shopping when the fire broke out, initially supported her husband's version that a lantern lamp must have fallen. But Stacy Kuykendall recently told the Corsicana Daily Sun she no longer believes her now-former husband's story. His family, who still lives in Ardmore, say he is innocent.
