New Jobs Coming to Durant

2-17-04 - A new company is preparing to build in Durant – bringing 40 new jobs with it. The nationwide glass frame manufacturer is actually following Cardinal Glass to town. The new company, which city officials have yet to name, buys glass from Cardinal and then uses it to make picture frames. They will begin construction in 3 weeks at Durant’s industrial park. The company also has facilities in three other cities – all where Cardinal Glass plants are located. Cardinal opens in May and will produce up to 600 tons of glass a day. More than 14 other businesses are scheduled to open by this summer in Durant. Most are retail, but in the end, the city could see 750 new jobs.
