OKC Escapee Caught in Atoka

2-18-04 - An escapee from the Carver Correctional Facility in Oklahoma City is behind bars in Atoka. Mark Brown was caught Tuesday while trying to cash a certificate of deposit at a local bank.

Brown was waiting in a taxi while trying to cash the $50,000 CD. But bank tellers became suspicious and called police. The Carver facility is a halfway house where Brown was finishing up a sentence.

He only had eleven days left in a 10-year arson sentence. Authorities say he was allowed out to search for a job but he never returned.
