2-18-04 - A grass fire Wednesday afternoon in Carter County has now left at least 1,000 acres of pastureland burned to a crisp. It started in the northwest part of the county off Pooleville road, where firefighters fought flames for four and half hours. One firefighter was but is now in good condition.

The flames were fueled by high winds, which was one of the reasons state officials declared a Red Flag fire alert in Carter and 45 other counties in Oklahoma.

Firefighters still don't know what started the fire.
