2-18-04 - The city of Ardmore will soon be connected by 7 miles of walking and biking trails. The committee finalized the second phase of the project Wednesday. The trails will connect Regional Park to the train depot downtown.

Right now, the current trial ends at the high school. The new section will run through neighborhoods and near schools until it reaches downtown. Four miles of that will be for biking as well.

This is just a second step in a master plan to make trails all over the city, hopefully making it possible one day for people to bike to work and school instead of driving cars. City leaders say it will at least be a great way for people to get out and exercise in a safe, marked off environment.

The city hopes to start the project this summer and have it done by the fall.
