Candyman Sentenced in Sherman

3-10-04 - A Grayson County judge has sentenced an elderly Sherman man to three years in prison for fondling several young girls in his southeast Sherman neighborhood. Known as the Candyman, Jerry Eugene Brewer used candy to lure his victims. The 67 year old was sentenced for eight counts of indecency with a child. Prosecutors say he would approach girls in his Constitution Village neighborhood, but then touch their chests inappropriately. In some cases, parents actually walked in on the behavior. Brewer was arrested last March. He’ll spend three years in jail followed by ten years of probation and be required to attend sex offender counseling.
