Toddler Drowns in Lagoon

03-14-03-- Investigators are calling it a tragic accident; the death of a toddler in Marshall County. Two-year-old Christine Morris apparently wandered away from home around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. She was found floating in a sewage lagoon behind her parents home in Oakland.

When they realized she was missing, her parents told investigators friends and family organized a search. About 20 minutes later, a friend found Christine in the lagoon and started CPR. Marshall County EMS workers arrived on the scene a short time later and continued CPR.

The little girl was transported to Integris Marshall County Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m.

Investigators say the death appears to be a tragic accident, but they are still investigating.
