Parents Demand Answers From Pottsboro ISD

3-15-04 - Pottsboro parents were looking to the school board Monday night for answers into allegations that a substitute teacher roughed up students 1.5 weeks ago. But for now, the answers will have to wait.

Five parents spoke to the board during an open forum. They complained that they were not contacted the day that several children claimed they were abused during a PE class on Friday, March 5th. At least 7 children claim the male teacher was rough with them, including picking one up by the neck, and kicking another in the ribs. But the board made no comment, saying by law they could only discuss items on the agenda.

First News spoke with Superintendent Kyle Collier. He says the school has been investigating the claims, but has had trouble contacting the children and their parents. The PISD went on spring break the day the incident occurred, and just returned to session today. The school has also removed the teacher’s name from their substitute list.

Meanwhile, police are still investigating, and say at least one more child has come forward to complain. First News spoke to the teacher’s attorney, who says he is innocent, and is cooperating with police.
