Ardmore's Chief Stepping Down

2-25-04 - After just 7 months as Ardmore Police Chief, John Beene is stepping down. He told First News of the decision Tuesday afternoon, citing recent health problems. Beene has been with the Ardmore PD for years, and had served numerous stints as acting chief before getting the job for good in July of 2003, replacing former chief Tony Garrett. Beene will be reassigned to his former position of deputy chief, effective March 1st. Today he told us he is thankful for the support during his short time in office. The search for a new chief starts immediately. City manager Dan Parrot says they hope to have someone hired within three or four months.
