Funerals for McKinney Murder Victims

Missing Pickup

(McKinney-AP) -- About 2,000 mourners overflowed a North
Texas funeral chapel today to pray for and remember a slain McKinney woman and her nephew.

46 year old Rosa Barbosa and 25 year old Mark Barbosa were among four people who were shot to death over the weekend. The attacks took place at the woman's home.

Funeral services for 17 year old Matthew Self and 18 year old
Austin York are tomorrow.

So far no arrests. McKinney Police Chief Doug Kowalski says the shooting deaths do not appear to be a random act. He says police believe the two high school football players were not initially targeted, and may have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kowalski says police combed the house for clues and found no
drugs.

Ministers offering eulogies at the open-casket funeral acknowledged the violence and senselessness of the crime. But they also appealed to mourners to remember the happy times with the Barbosas and to trust that God had a reason for taking the two.
