A body pulled from a Carter County River Friday afternoon has been identified.
Sheriff Harvey Burkhart says the man is 56-year-old Jimmy Leon Fite of Carter County.
The medical examiner reached that conclusion Monday after deputies helped match fingerprints.
The cause of death is still under investigation. The sheriff says they are still treating it as a homicide, but the medical examiner found no bullet wounds.
A couple driving down Highway 53 saw his body, wrapped in a black tarp, floating in the Washita River on Friday afternoon.
