(Washington-AP) -- The government says businesses added more
than 300-thousand jobs last month, the biggest jobs creation number
in four years. It is some long-awaited good news on the nation's job market. The Labor Department says the unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a point to five-point-seven percent as more people searched for
work. Employers added jobs in nearly all major categories. The
services-producing industry added 230-thousand jobs, including in
the retail trade. Construction and government jobs also expanded
briskly. For the first time in 44 months, manufacturing didn't cut jobs. The government also revised upward payrolls estimates for both January and February. In reaction to the news, stock market futures have risen sharply, indicating a good day for stock investors.
