Denison Mother Killed in Hit and Run

04-03-04- A 37-year-old Denison mother was killed in a hit and run accident Saturday afternoon. Police say alcohol played a factor in the accident and the suspect will likely be charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

It happened about 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of East Shepherd. A vehicle was headed west when the driver veered off the road and struck a woman, who was walking along the side of the road with a friend and pushing a lawnmower.

The driver left the scene, but was later picked up by police. He has not been charged and police are not releasing his name until charges are filed.

The woman's name has not been released, since her family has not been notified. She was transported to Texoma Medical Center, then to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where she died of sever head injuries.
