Marshall County leaders took one giant step forward this morning in making the expo center become a reality. Commissioners and fair board officials signed the final check for the fifteen-and-a-half acre lot the center will be built on between Madill and Kingston.

Earlier this year we reported fundraising was moving slower than planned. But thanks to hard work and generous contributions, officials raised the $124,000 needed to buy the land and then some.

"We're a focal point for the whole state. People come to lake. They're going to invest $500 million in the lodge area, built expo center, help lodge and motel and hotel business," said Marshall County District 2 Commissioner David Brown.

They still have a ways to go. Plans call for a $2 million facility equipped with a conference room, banquet hall, and certified kitchen.
