4-6-04 - The Colbert School Bond issue failed by the narrowest of margins Tuesday night. With a total of 450 votes cast, the $1.8 million bond came up one vote short of the required 60%.

The bond would have paid for a new gymnasium, replacing the current facility which is very small. Those against the bond issue said getting new classrooms was a bigger priority.

269 people voted for it - pulling in 59.78 percent of the vote. Oklahoma law requires school bond issues have a 60% majority to pass.
