SHERMAN TX-- Every week about one-third of the U-S population visits a Wal-Mart, that's about 100-million shoppers.
Now Sherman Wal-Mart shoppers will be greeted with a new look and a new layout when they come to shop and to celebrate the new digs, Wal-Mart is giving back to the community.

What was once blue is now brown, and the sign that read super center has been replaced with a simple symbol.

The Sherman Wal-Mart has been going through some big changes on the outside, and the inside.

"The store has been re-lit so it is much brighter, the aisles are wider, that’s one of the things our customers have been talking to us about they want an ease of shopping experience," said Sherman Wal-Mart Manager Bryan Lambert.

"I am proud of the way our store looks now it is cleaner it is more shopper friendly I am excited about all the new innovations we have here and I hope that our customers will be too,” said Lambert.

All those changes may take some getting used to.

The expanded electronics department has been moved to the back of the store, and the house wares section has been moved to the middle.

But the renovation isn't just about bringing in more shoppers it's also about Wal-Mart renewing its commitment to the city of Sherman.

"We received a 1000 dollar donation from Wal-Mart that will go into our disaster fund,” said Sharon Watson Director of the Texoma Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross is one of 16 organizations that received grants from Wal-Mart to commemorate the completion of the remodeling project.

Watson says the donation couldn't have come at a better time.

"Beginning in October is our busy season that when house fires seem to occur. This money coming in now is very helpful," said Watson.

Store managers are hoping that Shoppers who may have stayed away during the renovation will come in and see what the redesigned retailer has to offer.

“We are completely done and ready for our customers to come back to us," said Lambert.
