Child Hit By Car - Neighbors Demand Action

4-09-04 A five year old Kingston girl is lucky to be alive. She was hit by car while trying to cross Highway 70 on Thursday. Her injuries were only minor, but neighbors say it's just proof of how dangerous an area it is. It's right in downtown Kingston at Highway 70 and Harney Road across from a park. Those who live there say, even though the highway slows to 35 miles per hour, they need a cross walk added. They say the combination of kids and a busy highway can only be a disaster in the making. Kingston police say this is the first pedestrian accident on Highway 70 in their town in years, but they will take the idea of a cross-walk to the city council.
