3-29-04 - The Children's Advocacy Center in Sherman has helped more victims than the number of days they've been open. Now thanks to some help from a local prosecutor, they could take a big step in the war against sex offenders.

County Attorney Joe Brown will assign a full time prosecutor to work out of the CAC, to totally focus on sexual assault cases. Assistant County Attorney Jodi Brown will move from the justice center by the end of the week and her salary will be funded by grants. Jodi says “I truly believe we have a problem with this kind of crime and this kind of behavior in Grayson County. I'm looking forward to being able to help victims and their families get closure and seek justice."

The CAC opened it's doors just two months ago and have seen 62 children since then. Supporters believe a prosecutor, often viewing victims from behind a two way mirror, will be able to see and hear the cases firsthand, which will lead to stronger cases at trial.

The CAC received a $40,000 grant from the Meadows Foundation. The CAC board will decide on Monday if that money will go towards Brown's salary.
