04-19-04 - Grayson County College received almost $2 million Monday morning. Good news for the local economy. The money will be used to help train area workers.
The college received a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The economic development organizations in both Sherman and Denison will come close to matching that amount over the next three years. Combined the two organizations will provide $968,000.
The center for workplace learning will help train and prepare employees. It will be a place where businesses can send their employees for job training. It is expected to open next year.
