TIOGA, TX – Police in Tioga want to warn residents of a possible credit card scam.

Police Chief Jason Speer says that he has received multiple phone calls from residents alerting him of the scam.

Speer says the residents have been getting phone calls from the Texas Department of Public Safety asking for credit card numbers to donate money to help the families of fallen or injured DPS troopers.

Speer says that DPS does not solicit over the phone.

If you get a call from DPS, he says do not give out credit card numbers.

If you have any questions, you are asked to call the Tioga Police Department at 903-870-6215.
