Arson Suspected in House Fire

04-22-04 - Fire officials say a morning house fire was started intentionally. When fire crews arrived on the scene in Cartwright around six this morning, the home was fully engulfed and was very close to burning a neighbor's home too.

The home, located on the 500 block of Persimmon Street, is a complete loss. Authorities say the homeowner was out of state when the fire broke out. It’s not clear whether that person still lived in the residence or if the utilities were disconnected.

The flames came very close to a neighbor’s home - at one time just ten yards away. However, fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading.

So far authorities have no suspects in the arson.
