(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma teens will soon have to have more driving experience before they get permanent driver's licenses. Governor Brad Henry signed a bill into law this week that will take effect Nov. 1.

Teens will have to drive with instructional permits anywhere from 30 days to six months, depending on whether they've successfully taken driver's education.

Teens who haven't taken driver's ed will be able to get restricted licenses at age 16. The licenses will let them drive alone only during daylight hours. They'll be able drive to and from school, work, school activities and church functions.

At age 16 and a-half, teens who have no moving vehicle violations will be able to apply for unrestricted licenses.
